I intend to replace all the windows in my house with upvc units. I have done regular window replacement before but in this case i have 2 bay windows that need replacing. Does anyone know if there is any particular rules i need to follow? someone told me that the frames have extra supports in to take the additional weight of the structure above it. Any tips would be much appreciated.

You should treat all bay windows as load bearing to be on the safe side. Most window manufacturers have a load bearing system incorporated into their systems

just ask ;)

Your new windows should come with structural supports in the bay corners to pick up the lintel/roof above.

is it neccesary then to support the wall above the bay while i fit the central windows then? is it usually a one piece u-shaped lintel?
