On my original ceiling light there are only 2 wires, red and black.on the new one I am required to connect L E and N. Need a little help on what to do next thanks.

can you see the sheath on the cable? Has the earth (bare copper) been cut back? If so is there enough slack to pull through and cut back so you have an earth?
If there is no earth in the cable at all, you cannot fit this light without providing an earth from somewhere, which may require some rewiring

And even if is there, but cut back, ask yourself if you want to trust your life to the sort of t**t who would cut it back? If he can do that, what else might he have done elsewhere?
