before you paint new plaster

before i put a mist coat of paint onto my newly plastered loft extension walls, how do i clean the wall? do i use a dry lint free cloth or sugar soap water and wipe it (not sure if i should get the wall "wet")?

What do you want to clean it with sugar soap for? If it's new plaster, there will be nothing to clean off apart from maybe a little surface dust, which is not a problem anyway.Just give it a mist coat and get painting.

You could give it a rub over with stiff cloth like sacking to remove any plaster slurry left behind other wise do as roughcaster says..

But whatever you do...DONT RUB IT DOWN FIRST!
