can someone confirm to me if the electrodes are not sparking on the burner this indicates that the control box is not working? would appreciate a response. cheers

No you can't just blame the control box. that controls the input side of the transformer only. The transformer might be the problem or leads etc.
When I had a similar problem. I tested mine using a different power source without the control box and it still didn't work.
When I got new transformer I bench tested it with electrodes to prove it was OK before fitting to boiler with control box..
In fact I also tested motor/pump and the pump solinoid without the control box and ran boiler for ten minutes to make sure everything worked ok before I wired in the control box. (Mind you mine is not a bentone)

check electrodes for cracks or any damage also high tension leads for any wear if they are damaged it could be taking the spark away from electrodes

checked electrodes for cracks they were good, also checked leads they were fine. I even double checked the position of the electrodes in relation to the nozzle and guess what eh ok.

any other suggestions guys.

Could be tracking over the insulators etc. Is the burner head carboned up?

Sounds to me like the transformer has gone.

Should be able to get a replacement fairly easily but if difficult then use a Danfoss EB (I think) with a conversion set (leads, screws, etc.)

A failed photocell may also cause this condition, but if it is a Satronic control box, then it might well be BOTH the control box and the ignition unit, as a control box fault can wreck the ignition unit.

Thanks guys Ive sorted it now. It was the control box and after further examination i found one of the electrodes had a crack in the ceramic.

Cheers again for all your help.
