Can i pose this one to the woodworking thinktank please? (title says it all pretty much)

In the market for a small scale bandsaw (yet quality and accuracy are an important factor). I am swaying toward Record Power at the moment....though this is not yet set in stone pending any solid reccomendations otherwise.
So at the moment my question to you is......Would buying the PREMIUM 10" bandsaw @ £240 be a better buy than the STANDARD 12" model @ £370 ?

From this you get the idea what i require and the budget im working with. There is also a Metabo BAS317 in Screwfix for £430 which as a member of staff I could get for £345. And there is also an Axminster "hobby" model at my top top end of £399.

Regards,
Chris.

I Dont know what sort of work you are doing, the diy ones can't take a very deep blade maybe 1/4" top's, so the ability to cut a straight line will be compromised and accurate depth of cut,on the other had I have put them to good use cutting 1/4" thick templates for curved work whilst working on a platform round a boat, obviously situatioins like that were weight and size are a factor. But if your making furniture or light joinery in a small shop, the bottom end of the trade machines will do you and you'll still be on single phase, I use a small startrite that workes fine, although the guides are a bit of a pain to set up,If I had to buy another I would be interested in the Axminster band saw's the guides look very good, I think they have cast bed's which I would not compromise on, I think my watch word's would be ,Don't regret not spending enough.
