We have just redone our bathroom and with the guidance of this great forum have installed downlights and a manrose showerlite. The showerlite fan seems okay for the humidity (bathroom volume is about 14cubic feet) but it's not that good for the smelly boys in the house - especially as they only remember to put it on when they turn the lights on. I was thinking of putting an additional fan not dependent on the lights although some web sites say nothing will help bathroom smells. The fan my husband likes is the Airflow Icon. Any advice or recommendations on this problem?

less beans, curries and brussel sprouts?

seriously what about either

pir operated fan

pir added to existing fan

in either case fan starts when some one walks in

use less fact:

unless your fan can make a huricane you also need a vent in the door.

I noticed that with the door shut and fan on, it takes a while to get steam out, leave the door open slightly and a few seconds later the majority of the steam goes.

You want a centrafugal fan, not an axial.

6 inch is better than 4 inch.

Shortest duct with minimal bends.

Ventaxia ACM range is very good, but be prepared to pay about £60 for a non-timer version 4 inch. Then add the duct and grills.

As for switching, they do make a 'air quality' sensor for pub bogs etc, and these do seem to work.

Thanks guys - that's great. Will pass it onto the main wind generator in the house! Appreciate your help.
