Would I just use flash band to cover over the rotted felt in this photo. There is no leak but just spotted today it is all open on the right ridge side

I will reroof it in the future, but currently going to patch it up

flashband may work as a temporary

you need to dry it thoroughly with a heat gun -dont let it get too hot

then flashband primer, then use heat gun to soften flashband and a seam roller to roll it in.

Im amazed thats not leaking now TBH

Would a strip of lead be better ? Done in two sections ?

I have a gas burner for plumbing, but no heat gun. Could i use this if i used flashband.

You could just flop a wide strip of felt over it all, with loads of felt adhesive and nails to hold it down.
Strictly temporary.

I would imagine you'd need a new roof deck (and possibly insulation) so have a large contingency when you finally get round to doing it.
