This is in my own house. I'm not panicking because it has been there years (don't know exactly how many).
It's in the middle of a roughly 3m span across the room (I know...) and it's probably 40% joist depth. Just one joist is notched like this. There is already a piece of ply screwed to the side like a 'sister' which is better than nothing but it only extends perhaps 150mm each side.
The bit that really concerns me is that two of the feet of a freestanding bath sit midway between this joist the the next (which isn't notched).
I'm considering fitting a steep strap. Possibly a right angled one along the bottom.
Any thoughts on the best approach? Sistering the whole length would be alot of work. There is currently floorboards & 8mm ply & vinyl & skirting on top of all this, this access easiest from below via kitchen ceiling. In hindsight it wouldn't have been better to resolve this when the photo was taken, alas.
