Biasi Garda M90F.32S - Intermittent fault #FIXED#

Hello
sorry, don't know whether to keep on thread now I have started? Just wondered what I have actually been doing by resetting using the device on top of boiler? Is it only connected to the overheat stat?
Thanks again Mike

Its the flue overheat stat and should trip out at about 90 degrees.

But they were not very reliable and quite expensive and were replaced after a few months with an NTC sensor.

Either yours was faulty or the flue was overheating! Thats why you need a gas engineer to change it and check the temperature the flue reaches.

Hello
thanks for that. From what you say, I imagine it is faulty rather than overheating as it does not cut off the boiler during use. It is when it is used for the first time, say - the next day, it will not fire up.
Is the part easily available if it was only used briefly, or should it be replaced with the improved fitting? How expensive an item is it?
Thanks Mike

I expect they are about £29.

If they are reset too many times they fail to the off condition.

The NTC is not an alternative replacement, you do need that o/h stat.

As its inside the combustion chamber it needs a gas engineer to replace it.

Thanks again
I will get someone out and at least have an understanding of the potential problem.

Just to update the original post....

It turned out that the cause of the problem was actually a slight drip from what looks like a bleed valve(?) directly above the ignition PCB. The dampness was affecting the PCB which when dried by the heat gun temporarily resolved the symptoms. I had to use the heat gun 'trick' 3-4 times before i noticed the leak.... by which time the PCB was pretty much on it's last legs and probably unsafe.

I tightened the bleed (?) valve thingy and replaced the ignition PCB (£90) - which was what Agile correctly diagnosed - and all is well.

Many thanks to this forum - especially Agile!!
