Here is a strange one
I have two boilers in diferent locations both Riva 28S and both LPG converted In both cases the boiler goes through the ignition sequence and lights JUST often only on one central strip of the burner - its then pot liuck sometimes the rest of the burner will light often just the left side and sometimes nothing at all
I am prety ok with this boiler type as I look after a whole load of them but this is foxing me
I have swaped just about everything

Are these boilers installed in New Zealand?

If they are in the UK, I would want to be confident that you were CORGI registered before giving you the answer.

I know the answer, but I am hesitant to post it in detail on the public part of the forum.

The boilers are in new Zealand

We are in fact Gas fitters (equivelent to corgi)
I am ex UK - If there is an answer I would welcome knowing what it is

As its a bit rare and does not involve disturbing the gas train I will put it on here.

Its also somewhat bitty and any one or combination will not help. Its based on NG but generally the same principles will apply to LPG.

First has the flue restrictor zig zag part been fitted and had the correct bits removed, roughly every other one or two ?

Next, has the "modification" plate been fitted which covers the front space between the burner shroud and the base? This was fitted to all the production 28 kW models after the first few to assist crosslighting. It was only used on the 28 kW which was often slow to crosslight.

Have you checked the ignition pressure is correctly set on the upper pot at the bottom left of the PCB? It can be upped a little if that aids crosslighting.

Of all these, the flue restrictor is probably the most important, followed by the baffle plate!
