Block paving questions

Good afternoon

Now tha summer is here, I am going to pressure wash all the weed away on my block paving driveway and then fill in the gaps.

Following from https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/patio-cleaning.634638/#post-5821164 ,
I am not sure if I should commit to a ton bag of 1-4 mm aggregate. What if they do not go into the gaps?
Do I need to brush in kiln dried sand first?

Remove the weeds with a hand tool (steel brush), it’s more efficient and a lot cleaner than pressure washing gaps. Then brush over the gaps with kiln dried sand in dry weather. I only needed two or three bags for 40 odd square metres. The excess further cleans the surface

Personally I would give it a good dose of Pathclear or similar weed killer before you start the process as long as you don't have pets that have access to it.
