I have a shed base (6ft x 8ft), and having taken away the shed I'd like to now build a small block building in the same place. The slab is about 80-90cm type 1 compacted, then about the same concrete on top with mesh in the middle that goes to the edges. I'm wondering if I can get away with aerated blocks on top of that along the edges to a height of about 6ft, without breaking it up to put in proper foundations. I was thinking I could add some rebar in the mortar joints at the corners but unsure if that will help much.

Just wondering has this sort of thing been done and is it likely to work?

thanks!

You can probably get away with this, but would be better if you brought it in slightly, so not right on the edge.
Can't see rebar doing a deal, the slab may crack, how well was it put down?

If you've got room around the slab, perhaps its better to dig a foundation around the slab and set off properly?
