Blown light bulbs

I have two light fixings about four feet away from each other in my hall.

One is working okay, but the other bulb blew just two hours after fitting a new 60w bulb.

It flickered and then went out.

What might be the problem???

Probably just a dodgy bulb - unless the same thing has happened several times in the same light fitting.
