boiler advice please is this one ok

Hi

Our old boiler had died and we are short of cash. I have seen a Baxi 80e on ebay and I have been quoted £500 to fit. Is this ok please?

At that price and boiler offered, I would be asking for insataller's Gas Safe caed and eximine same with a big mignifying glass. I wonder if the installer said your boiler is beyond repair

Its a non condensing boiler and against the Building Regs to fit it.

Better to get your boiler repaired!

What make and model and who said its dead?

its an old wickes boiler and keeps blowing fuses

Because it is not efficient enough.

Just because its "blowing fuses" does not mean that it cannot be repaired!

I can repair any boiler which is blowing fuses!

You did not say who could not repair it. Is it the same person who wants £500 to fit an illegal non condensing boiler?

Perhaps its more profitable for him to replace it? £500 rather than £84 !

yes, it was the same guy

we got a leak on our flat roof and water got into the boiler hence the fuses blowing

I would suggest finding another gas engineer.
As fuses are blowing, and water has got into the boiler, then it can only be a few things at the most, that are faulty.
