I'm in the process of having a boiler changed from water tank to combi. They have finished for today and will install new boiler tomorrow BUT apparently the toilet is now flushing from the mains and it like it has a turbo boost. The flush is so powerful it sounds like it will take off.

Should the boiler men fix this and what should they be doing to it? Is it fixable?

Ask them to change the ball valve.

Not uncommon on combi conversions.

They might charge you a bit extra for the valve, but as long as it is boxed in or something stupid it shouldn't take them too long and hopefully no extra labour.

The Cistern is now filling from High Pressure water instead of Low Pressure from Tank.

You can either change the valve in the Ballcock valve system to high pressure, or better still replace the valve with a Fluidmaster Fill Valve,

Speak to the Boilermen nicely and give them another cuppa and some biscuits and they should help you out.

Also be aware that washing machine hoses, heating pipes and fittings and just about anything else can blow and cause a flood with the now high pressure.

Oh my I didn't even think about the washing machine! What can they do to stop this happening ?

To be fair it is very rare. And the cold feed to the machine is almost certainly already on high pressure supply anyway.

The installers should hopefully have at least mentioned this kind of issue before now?

Nope nothing mentioned! This is completely unexpected.

depending on the age of the toilet cistern you may not have to change the ball valve most modern ones can be changed from low pressure to high pressure just by swapping a small part just speak to your boiler installers they will have experienced this before it is very common

Its not unknown for high pressure water systems like yours to explode form every toiler an once!!!!

Not really

Dont worry things blowing off is very rare so forget it. Dont let people scare you!!!!
