:? I have started noticing that my boiler (its a 5 year old Potterton Kingfisher) is cycling off/on when I'm sitting in the kitchen in the morning - at that time the system's probably been on for approx 1 hour. No hot water has been used so the cyclinder stat should be up to temp and not calling for water. The room stat though should still be caloing for heat (heating been timed on for approx 30 mins by then).

The boiler goes off, then seems to click (I assume attempting to re-light?) for say 1/2 dozen or so times before it comes on again. It may then run again for just a couple of minutes before it repeats the process. I've not been able to stick around long enough to see just how long this goes on for.

In the evenings when I get home I guess the system has been on for at least 3 hours and have not noticed the same problem.

By the way, if I adjust the room stat to force the boiler off/on it re-ignites immediately, so I don't think this is an ignition problem.

Any ideas? I've spoken with my usual gas guy and he's puzzled!

NB. I've turned up the boiler stat to max (it was set about 70% of the way round the dial) and it stops it happening. I've spoken to Potterton who've advised that it ought to be set at max really.
