Hello, so basically today out boiler had some issues it wasn't working as in nothing would work. We reset the boiler and turned the heating on and noticed the pressure bar kept raising and raising. It was originally on 1.5 and raised up to 2.5 and after we have turned the heating off it has gone down to 2.
I don't have any experience what so ever with boilers but is this normal?
We got worried over it because it was just about to go into the red that we turned the heating off.

If normal and we have the heating on is it okay for the gauge to go into the red section or should we contact someone?

Thanks if you need any more information please let us know.

sounds like ex vess needs recharging,as a temp measure lower the boiler heating thermostat till you get it sorted

You shouldn't have it at 1.5 when cold. Release some water, and then get it under 1, and the see what happens. If it still keeps rising too high, then Gordons right, and the expansion vessel needs looking at. If it gets to 3, then the Pressure relief valve will release the excess pressure.

It was originally just above the green but we put the heating on the first time and it kept rising so we turned it off worried about it. Then tried it again and it just kept going up it has settled a bit but it's still quite high.

I don't know if normal. Like is it normal but we just never notice the gauge going up? Or do you guys think it sounds more like a issue which will need someone to come look at it?

The pressure when boiler and radiators are cold should be in the green area , 1 bar is the mid point in that range. When c/heating is on ,the water expands and pressure increases ,which is normal. How much the pressure rises varies from one installation to another ,but typically would not go much over 2 bar if everything is in good order. If the pressure gets up to 3 bar then the systems safety valve ( prv) will open ,and allow water out of the system to reduce pressure. Follow the advice given above ,reduce the pressure ( when system COLD ) to 1 bar maximum. Then see how it goes.
