We have just moved into our new flat. Boiler was serviced in November and since then little use as we've only just moved in. We have replaced/moved 2 rads since moving in. Subsequently 2 days before move in, heating stopped working. A plumber came out and fixed it (not sure what he did beause I was at work at the time). However heating stopped again 2 days later. Yesterday we dealt with it as a pressure problem - it was below 1 - and upped the pressure to 1.5-2. This fixed it for the day but when returned home from our valentines trip to Ikea (!!!) at 1030pm (!!) heating was off again. We attacked the pressure again. No difference. Boiler kept clicking as if it's trying to feed water through but switching off. Its blue light went off. Hot water working fine. This morning, heating is working again! I've seen you've all mentioned the pump and I have tried to persuade my gorgeous fiance we should drain the pump! However he is deeply reluctant in case we mess it up and then any fxxx up becomes our fault. What would you recommend? can anyone give us a real blow by blow idiots guide to doing it so we can avoid a massive callout fee?!?! or any other recommendations? thanks so much everyone! xx

Have you bought this flat?

Surely the solution is to call a competent boiler engineer to fix it?

Or take out BG breakdown cover?

Its an Ariston. Well I guess that was partly my question. Can we try fixing it ourselves before calling someone out? Doing the pressure thing was relatively simple so if there's more stuff we can try to fix things, before spending the 100 quid, that would be great.
