We have a domestic borehole which has failed (surface water getting into system) and are now connected onto mains water. We still use the borehole for watering garden/washing cars etc. During the investigation into why it failed the installer raised the pump within the borhole. We are now only getting about 20litres out of the borehole before it runs dry and have to wait for the water level to rise.

We want to drop the pump futher within the borehole as to increase our volume of water. Any idea as a DIY how to remove the cap and drop the pump? Tried to budge the cap by hand and it wont move/twist. The borehole installer gosted us after various attempts did not solve the issue of surface water contamination so not attempted to contact them again.
