Bosch Dishwasher not filling or emtying water

We have an approx 7 year old Bosch dishwasher which all of a sudden has stopped filling with and emptying water, therefore is not cleaning although does switch on and off and varies time for the various programmes. We have tried putting water in manually which helps it to clean but then it does not drain water. Any advice would be appreciated as we are deciding whether we should replace asap.
