Bosch Excel 1200 washing machine cycle malfunction

Help if you can please!
I seem to have messed up my daughters washing machine.
I pressed the (start in ) button by mistake, now every load takes 3 hours and sometimes there is foam left in the drum and the rinse cyle hasn't come.
Any ideas to remedy this, would be great.

Keep pressing the "start in" button until it it turns the function off, it is all explained in the user manual. If the machine still has issues post the E-number on the door sticker.

Hi, Thanks very much for your suggestion. I told my daughter what you suggested and apparently the "Start In" thing isn't the problem, I think it was just a coincidence that I pressed that as apparently it happened before then.

The wash has always started straightaway so "Start In" is clear and not on. She's read the manual and the problem seems to be that the machine is compensating for something that is wrong by doing a longer wash or even two or three washes. The manual says it taking longer isn't a malfunction and that it will compensate if there is for example lots of extra foam in the machine. She has tried using liquitabs in case the machine doesn't really like powder but it still took ages and didn't have any excess foam anyway. Also the compensation isn't really working anyway as it finished its cycle (or cycles) the other day with loads of foam over the washing. So it seems to be a bit hit and miss. There doesn't seem to be a blockage or a way to reset the whole machine.

Would be grateful for any ideas. Thank you!!

I still need the E-number on the door sticker to pin the machine down.
I take it this is a newish washer? Older machines have programs that tend to run much quicker than washers you buy now. This is partly because new washers use less water/detergent (& help save the planet). Some "sense" cleanliness levels & adjust program times accordingly. We regularly get consumers complaining that programs on their new washer take far too long compared to the old one. But that's the way it works these days. A heating problem can cause the machine to wash into infinity.

With regards to the heat, the machine has been running for 20 mins (40 degree wash) and the glass door is ice cold.

It's not new, it was bought it from previous owners of house. At a guess it could be around 8 yrs old. The reduced time function (around 45-55 mins depending on setting) has always worked fine, it's only recently it has taken hours to do the same cycle.

Ok...do you have a multimeter? If you do then you need to check the heater element & NTC sensor. On this model it is difficult to get at the heater from the back as the element terminals are at the front of the machine. There shouldn't be a baseplate on this washer so if you disconnect the water/power & lean the washer back against a wall/stool or similar you ought to be able to check the element resistance/continuity from underneath (should be around 25 ohms). The NTC is probe mounted in the element itself & has a two wire plug. It should measure around 6000 ohms at 20C.

Just to let you know that you were right, the heater element on
my daughters Bosch excel washing maschine had blown.
As the replacement part was nearly £70 ,she has replaced with a new machine .But thank you so much for all your help you are a star!
