Bosch Exxcel 1400 Wm

Hi, grateful for some guidance on a problem with a bosch exxcel 1400 wm.
Set machine to any setting and it immediately starts pump to drain machine. When drain cycle is complete the wm stops and the digital display indicates that the programme is finished by displaying -0-
Any ideas? thanks

Can you post model number and age
Assume you have checked motor brushes?
Does it go to drain on any dial setting ie can you set it to spin only?
At the start of the wash program do you hear the water valve activate
and fill through drawer?

It's a bosch 1400 s express, bought in July 2004.

I've removed the brushes which can be seen on the attached photo, not sure if these would be considered worn?

Basically, every wash setting starts with a fill through the drawer. The water reaches a certain level in the drum then it starts to pump out and the programme finishes.

I've set it to spin only, no spinning takes place and a noise like a pump or motor occurs for a minute or so, then stops

OK Brushes are about 60% worn so unless they have already been replaced and sticking.
(do they easily move up and down in the holder?) then I doubt this is the problem.
However the motor should activate when you set to spin -the other noise is probably the drain pump
....so cant rule out brushes or motor problem entirely.

Your machine maybe overfilling which could be a faulty pressure switch or
crud in the pressure pipe.

How far up the glass does the water go?

To check this remove lid and on RHS you will see a brown cylinder fixed to the top inside wall.
A pressure pipe connects from the drum to the bottom of this pressure switch.

Gently remove (pull) the pipe from the bottom of the switch and then blow
down the pipe-there should be no resistance.

It appears to have been a blocked pressure tube.

unfortuately my wm is on the blink again.
Similar situation as before, start a programme, machine fills with water through soap drawer, drum rotates clockwise and anti-clockwise a couple of times, then the drain cycle starts for a minute or so and the cycle ends. Digital display shows -0- where the cycle countdown is normally displayed.
Any ideas what the problem might be? could it be a blockage in the drain system?

I would replace the brushes in case you have a bad contact.
could explain why you have had the intermittent problem.
Check resistance across the two brushes generally this is a few ohms
ie 2-4 l
Have you tried a cycle on a cold wash to eliminate the heater element?
Again you can easily check resistance across the element -usually mid 20's

At what point in the cycle is the drain pump activated during the error condition?
