Indoors I think is caused by thermal bridging moisture builds up in the insulation and freezes transmitting cold to the outside of the door. On the other hand it is quite common in freezers kept in garages due to the damp cold surroundings .
You could try defrosting and leaving off over night to see if the insulation dries out.
