My Bosch fridge (KGV39VL31G) LED light failed recently. I've seen a few posts on here and elsewhere with people struggling to work out how to replace, and apparently Bosch won't tell you, so having just managed to do it I thought I'd post here.
Turn off the power first, and don't do this if you're fridge is still under guarantee. Be warned you might break the replacement doing this too. If you're at all concerned about this then get an Bosch appliance repair person to look at it.
If you buy a replacement from Bosch (or elsewhere) you get a module set in a plastic cover that includes a basic lens as shown (I separated the two parts as discussed below).
I initially tried to lever out the existing fitting with a screwdriver but in the end it came out by pulling down hard at it with fingers and easing it out bit by bit and it eventually came out (be brave!). The LED module connects on the right hand side of the lamp as you look in the fridge and the whole unit came out.
I think the LED module and its plastic cover is glued into the bigger plastic enclosure (the one that says LED lamp). I couldn't work out how to neatly remove this but then I realised that I could just take out the LED module from it and replace with the one from the spare (the white bit).
I fitted it back in the fridge by lining up the connector on the end of the module with the hole it fits in then pushing up and right. It snapped back in (with a fairly horrid crack). I crossed fingers in one hand and turned the plug on with the other and it worked!
My fridge was 3 years old, so not very impressed at the failure of (according to the manual) a non-user serviceable component. Anyway, hope this helps someone. Would be interested to know if anyone has a better way to do this, or knowledge of a tool that should be used etc.
