Hi All,

we have decided to renovate one of our rooms 1930's house.

The bedroom ceiling was bumpy so we decided that it will be pulled down and new plasterboard put up.

The ceiling instead of the old lath and lime plaster turned out to be brown sheets nailed in like cardboard that crumbles away.

Does this look like asbestos?

It looks to me like old fibrous "softboard" sheets, not asbestos, but still treat it with respect and use a mask etc when removing it. It's probably a good idea getting rid of it too because it might be a fire hazzard. What do you other guys think?

Yes...As rc says looks like conti-board ,,You could give it a light spray with water as you take it down, that should keep the dust down....

I was recently cleaning out a lighting box at a school built in around 1960. We were outside and we took a panel that looked like that. Is there any chance it could still be asbestos?
