Hi guys, if I have a house which has say 20 rooms all needing 1,000 watt radiators, does this mean I need to buy a boiler that can output at least 20KW (excluding HW and hob etc) ?
If those 20 1kW radiators are the result of an accurate heat loss calculation at the design temperature (the lowest anticipated in the geographic area e.g. -3°C then yes. Just remember it is very rarely -3°C and the heat load will vary depending on how the system is operated. For the vast majority of the heating season the load will be far less so also calculate the loss at say +10°C to come up with a figure to which the boiler could modulate down to as a reference.
