We have a Bungalow built in 1948 with solid walls and concrete floors. Our DPC is about 1 metre above the road level. We had a new DPC injected in 2006 and the house rendered in 2007.

Before the render/DPC injection a damp patch used to appear on the external brick work and we had a large area of damp/black patches on the inside wall. Since the DPC the size of these patches have decreased significantly but the internal paintwork still bubbles off the wall and grows black mould in the winter months.

The paint on the external wall in the same corner bubbles too.

Questions:
Could this be caused by water pipes - not sure where they enter the house - how do we find out?

Any other ideas - we are desperate to get this problem sorted.

Will take some photos and upload later.

Outside on the road you will often have a stop cock in the pavement.

Inside you have the rising main - the tap you switch off when you want all the water off. It's usually a pretty straight pipe run between the two.

yopu say the problem was massively improved with the injection of a new DPC? if so is possible that it wasn't done correctly and still letting damp climb the walls, albeit a small amount?

your water should come into the house somewhere sensible, kitchen or the like, can't see how a water pipe would be causing you those problems if the walls are solid and without cavity.
