Hello,

I have poured some strip foundations for a greenhouse and am planning of adding two courses of concrete blocks on top of this for the greenhouse to sit on.

I would like to put down about three layers of weed control fabric on top of the central earth section to try and stop slugs getting into greenhouse. Can I put this fabric over the concrete foundations and then build the wall on top...ie will the cement cure and bond with the concrete below or would the fabric prevent bonding?

thanks
Trevor

I am no expert in the following but I would have (possibly unfounded) concerns about the drainage through three layers of weed control fabric.

Weed control fabric allows water to drain through but blocks light and forms a physical barrier to things growing through it.

Not sure how much good it will be as a slug barrier - I don't think they burrow underground and come up inside greenhouses.

Agreed, they will come in on imported plants or soil etc as eggs, or fully grown.
