I've built a planter out of brick against the house wall below the damp course line. Its about 18 inches wide and 20 inches deep. I need to fill it but before I do should I line it?

When filling do I need to put stone etc at the bottom for drainage?

Hi, Kinell,
It depends whats at the bottom.
If it's just earth then just bung in some topsoil and plant away.
It also depends to some extent what you plan on growing in it.
you may decide to put flowers in, in which case you need to find out what the flowers want in respect of acidity and compost.
it's very complex, buy a book.
