how can I remove cigarette burns on a plastic bathtub and from counter tops.

Is the countertop made of laminate, how bad & size of burn.

yes it is. not bad - just discolored

If you use a liquid abrasive, as used on cars, it might just do it. The darker the colour the better, patterned better still.
