burnt cd is quiet?

hello folks

i have had this problem for a while now. when i burn a cd it comes out a lot quieter. i normally use windows media player, but i have also tryed nero now, so i assume its perhaps a hardware problem. any help would be much appreciated.

More information needed. For example, what files are you writing to the CD? MP3?

And when you say that it's "quieter", what is it quieter than?

I suspect we are burning mp3's here, assuming we are, have you tried making a direct copy of an audio cd and see if that comes out quieter than the original - which I imagine it wont.

my thoughts also, unless burning a cd from an external player then line level doesnt even enter the equatiion
