help request for any sparkies...

I recently built an extension and have the following lights installed...

12 spot lights
centre pendant light with 6 bulbs
wall lights
2 outside lights

all of the above are controller by a 4 Gang 2 way 250w dimmer switches...problem is that when I switch up any lights, I can hear a buzzing sound...it is quite noisy, especially when I switch on the centre light made up of 6 12V 10W bulbs. I have been told the issue is with the dimmer switch and to go for a 4 gang 2 way 400w to take the capacity.

Does this sound right and will it get rid of the buzzing??

Thx
V

It depends on the make of the dimmer and its load.
Cheap ones do buzz, some of the expensive ones buzz also.

Please state for each dimmer
the total load in watts

Also (for each dimmer) what type of lamps and do they have transformers. Also if the transformers are suitable for dimming.

Your centre light may have a toroidial transformer in it - these are often not suitable for dimming with regular dimmers.
