Hello, does anyone have an instruction manual for this type of boiler? It's the INT (internal) wall-mounted variant? Or can somebody verify whether the manufacturing process used any asbestos in this boiler?

We need to establish whether the gasket contains asbestos. Had an asbestos surveyor round who was less than helpful. He took a look at it and said probably. That's not helpful, we need to know definitively.

I've called Worcester Bosch, and to be fair to the chap, he was incredibly helpful, but they no longer have any documentation related to this type of boiler. He said models manufactured around the same time don't contain asbestos, and the EXT variant manufactured 1994 onwards didn't seem to either. But still not able to validate either way.

Thanks in advance.

The answer your seek is here... Read through.
I just googled your question and hay presto.
Think you need to get the bit mentioned tested. It probably is asbestos. Its the only way to be sure.

It's possible the manufacturer was using asbestos at the time in their boilers by looks of it.

I'll also add I remember that time and it was when asbestos was being removed from products like boilers. You could still buy sheets of it. Crazy when you think about it now.

Thanks. I saw this thread, but that's for the 15/19. Are they the same boiler?

No. Not same boiler.
But as I said it's possible that the manufacturer was using asbestos at the time in boilers.
All you can do is test.
Take precautions and start to dismantle boiler. Anything that looks like asbestos stop and get it tested.

Only other option is get a company in and pay the going rate for asbestos removal even though it might not be asbestos inside. Just a waste of money although that's for everyone to decide

Cheers. Really frustrating that W-B no longer have that documentation. The engineer I spoke to told me that it would be explicitly stated in the front page of the boiler manual if it contained asbestos.

I'm still irked that we paid £180 for the survey, just for the surveyor to tell me in person it was 100 to 1 chance whether it contained it, and then put on the report that there's a strong possibility the gasket contains asbestos. I'm sure we paid them to sample and tell us either way.
