Not sure if this plastic wedge shaped thingy is part of the door frame or a bit of leftover packaging - either way the bottom of the door is catching on it when it closes. There are similar fittings on the sides of some of my window frames too. Can anyone tell me if it should be there or not please?

They are called a run up blocks and are there to locate the sash central in the frame, i normally throw them in the nearest bin.

Your door has clearly dropped, either through natural settlement or poor toe and heeling, removing the block will mean the sash will shut nicely but may not lock as the hook/cams/mushrooms don't line up anymore with the frame keeps

Thanks, but do you mean they are there to help during installation and should be discarded? The way I read your post, you're saying that if the door is installed properly then run up blocks are superfluous.

They are meant put after fitting the door but i throw them, the door only has t drop/settle slightly and it'll start binding on them, techically this is what is supposed to happen and the door runs up the blocks and locates as if it had not dropped but the rubbing and catching really annoys me hence i over compensate when i toe and heel and then throw those blocks away
