Hi everyone,

Is it possible to attach decking frame to fence posts? The fence is new and solid, and the deck is to be low level (300mm). I know they are often anchored to houses but this deck is to be situated at the bottom of my garden. Thanks in anticipation of any much needed advice, Lee

If the fence posts are yours then you can, of course, but in almost all cases you probably shouldn't.
Get some postcrete and set some 4" posts in separately to support the frame. It is very little extra work given everything else involved with constructing the frame and will prevent you having to remove the deck if you need to replace the fence, or vice versa.

What he said, the fence post will prob need to be replaced before the deck does.

If the posts are solid enough then it'd be OK, if there is any movement whatsoever to be expected in time of high wind then its a recipe for disaster. Bit lazy though really.
