My boiler has two room stats connected, one in the downstairs hallway and one in the master bedroom. The hallway one dictates the downstairs temp and the master bedroom the upstairs temp. We choose to have the bedroom cold even during winter and usually have the rads off. However, due to the set up in this house that will mean our boiler will work overtime heating the rest of the upstairs as it will struggle to ever reach temp in our room. I must have the rest of the upstairs heated for the kids. Is there anyway of disconnecting or moving the upstairs room stat?

Yes, you can reposition it wherever you want. It will be connected using a cable. You can extend this cable from its position behind the stat (easiest way would be to drill a hole through the wall) or you can trace it back. Probably is visible under the floor.
Or, yes, you can have a wireless one, which is more likely to go wrong.

Yes you can disconnect it, but will lose the ability to heat the rest of upstairs (Which you need for your kids). You can move it by means suggested (moving the cable or wireless route). You could always create a single zone, turn off the bedroom rad(s) and any others not needed and then just use the hallway room stat.
