Can I paint over Durable Wood Stain?

Hi

I have a wooden front door and it has been stained with Sadolin Deep Mahogany Wood Stain. I would like to paint the inside of the door 'white'.

How would I go about this?
I can imagine lots and lots of coats of paint Grateful for advice please.

No no simply give the door a sand going with the grain

Prime the door (zinsser bin is good)

Undercoat then topcoat

If you remove the door furniture it makes the job easier
