Cannon Dual Fuel Oven spark ignition

I have a problem with the above.
The gas top oven ignites okay but the spark is then on permenently trying to ignite the top gas rings -even when they are lit

New spark generator fitted but the problem remains
Funnily enough if Ikeep the front gas jet on at the same time as top oven the sparking stops

anyone help??
