Carpet up to patio doors

Having just taken up some laminate flooring I would like to carpet the living room but cant decide if I should put some kind of edging strip on the floor up to the patio doors. I have filled in the cavity in the floor with cement but I`m wondering if it would be wise to not have the carpet directly up against the door frame? Any ideas??

Oooohh.....i'm in exactly the same predicament mike.
Just waiting for the cavity to be filled with concrete then gotta decide on the same as you.

I`m tempted to put down a upvc strip like what is sometimes put around the frames to cover up the cavity. But with the bevelled edge I dont know if that would be difficult to carpet up to. Maybe a nice piece of wood...
