Did mine the other day with a small hammer.... poor neighbours (I live in a block of flats!). Never done it before, bit of a DIY novice but here's what I learned....
- Get a big hammer (biggest you can find!) but if you don't want to shell out loads for a one off I think mine cost a tenner (only about 1.5kg) - just be prepared for a workout.
- ear plugs!!
- eye protection!! (just generally covered head to toe in something)
- it seems that where it's more flexible, i.e. the long sides, it's harder to crack, so hit somewhere solid, like the bend in the base of the bath in a corner.
- hit the same spot till it cracks but there's no benefit to keep hitting that same spot after. All that happens is a small block will fall out in that area. If you follow the split you can essentially cut off sections. Even small sections still weigh about 20kg.
Hopefully that's an idiots guide. I'm an idiot and that's what I learned from my first attempt
If I had to do it again i'd source a sledgehammer!!!!!
