Hi. I've turned the position of my cast iron bath around as I'm re-working the whole bathroom but the side that's been against the wall for so many years has bits of cement, foam, rust etc. How can I clean it up best??

Also what advice can you give me for re-enamelling a bath should it come to that??

Many thanks

There are companies that specialise in re-enamelling/repairing cast iron baths.

Had a specialist in to do a full refurb / re-enamel on a cast iron bath at a previous property. He spent an absolute age on preparation. He used various attachments on a grinder and different grades of wet or dry. Applied the enamel, finally painted the underside with metal oxide paint. Looked great once complete. Afterwards it made the bath slippy when in use - be careful!

It's possible to purchase bath re-enamel kits for diy (ebay etc) - it took the guy 2.5 days to do the job, very dusty/messy. Fee was around 300 quid, iirc.

Thank you for your reply. I am still thinking of a DIY kit due to cost to get someone in but undecided as yet. Thank you for your detailed reply!
