Hello,

My ceiling light tripped the consumer unit last night for an unknown reason. The light had been working perfectly prior to then. In flicking the consumer unit back and trying the switch again, the same happened.

This morning when i tested again after checking all the light bulbs, it popped and now when i press the light switch it does not work at all, with no tripping of the CU.

Is there a problem with the transformer as the cables look ok without any touching producing a short circuit.

Yes it could be the transformer. What is tripping, the mcb or the rcd? And is it a remote transformer or one built in?

not sure which is which, but the switch for the lighting circuit only, ie the electrical plug sockets are still live after the trip.

The transformer is built into the ceiling light with wire going in and out of it,

sounds like its blown somehow, strange!!
