We are trying to fit a new ceiling light in our bedroom and the wiring looks as follows: Two Red and Two Black, with two bare copper colour wires. We have managed to get the light to come on, however it will not switch off using the wall switch. Could someone please give some advice as to how we should wire-up the light fitting. Thanks - it's a bit dark in the room at the moment!

Thats the problem!
Switching the switch should make a bang and blow a fuse!! (dont try it!)
Possible you have already done this, and your cheap switch has frazzled inside, and no longer will operate to cause a short.
Look in for reference. Tip - reds do not go to the light fitting, and one of the blacks is a live.
How many lights come on with the same switch?? (just to illiminate the possibility of lights looping)
