if you say no wiring has been changed.
but valve appears to be opening and shutting when water to temp.
but pump and boiler not shutting off.

does that sound right if yes i would say their is a fault in the electrics in the valve actuator (plastic part) and not cutting the power to pump etc.

but without a meter we can't check it.

Yes exactly right - thank you very much for your time at least we have an idea what it might be, will get it tested.

Thanks again.

with the programmer in off position for hot & heating where is pump live coming from
perhaps its from pump overrun?

poss yes or i thought it maybe coming from the perm live to the zone valve being a s plan and the microswitchs stuck so constantly feeding the pump etc live.

sounds like it jammed.

on the side of the valve casing is another black lever push that in and the plastic top will lift off the brass valve.

is the plastic casing hot ?
