I have a 15 year old system, quite conventional (?) in a three bed house. A Potterton boiler, tank in the loft, a pump, three way valve and hot water tank in the airing cupboard etc. Last year I had a motorised three way valve replaced. More recently I changed the pump and, last week, the control box/timer.

The system has been playing up ever since the first three way valve packed up, last winter.

currently I can have hot water, or hot radiators upstairs or hot radiators downstairs, but only one of these at a time. Turning on the hot water make the radiators cold. Turn the water off, open the upstairs radiators and downstairs remains cold. Close upstairs and downstairs gets hot.

Where do i start?
