Some background info:
Indirect CH system with expansion tank in loft, main feed and return pipes next to central wall in back bedroom with a radiator installed on each side of wall in middle of house, 12mm microbore.
Recently wanted front bedroom radiator moved from wall to window bay, new K2 rad installed in bay. Two new compression tees adding to main pipes in back bedroom, and two white plastic pipes joined together for longer length (for feed and return) layed parallel to joist for 2 x 5metre lengths. Elbow pushfits to small length of 15mm copper into radiator. Thermostat valve added. (all other valves in the system are manual).
Plastic pipes layed on downstairs ceiling lath and not clipped in place, asked plumber about this, he said if clipped pushfits can disconnect due to pipes moving and being restricted due to clips.
The two old microbore connections to the old radiator have a white pushfit endcap on each pipe. Tube of scalemaster SM1 added to expansion tank, previous stuff was fenox.
System needed rads bleeding for a few days, several week later, loud knocking noises from upstairs that last for about 1 minute, appears to happen when heating set lower and coming on/off . Doesn’t happen as much if heating on full blast. Can feel vibrations in new radiator when it happens, no air in rads just water comes out with bleed key, done all rads with heating off and on.
Haven’t spoke to plumber about it yet, all floorboards are now back down, and decorated and carpeted, so really don’t want them up again. Original copper feed/return pipes in back bedroom relagged with pipe lagging, but not on new plastic ones. Expansion tank is full and working ok and clean.
Has anyone any ideas of what is causing this and hopefully a solution ? I assume the two pipes that were blanked off will have air in them, can this keep getting in to the main system ? any help appreciated
Thanks
