Central Heating not working

Hi

I have a problem with my heating i have a boiler with a immersion tank and a header tank. The heating and hot water are controlled seperatly on th programmer. The heating does not work when it is turned on but it does work if the hot water is turned on and the tank is heating up went the tank is hot the heating goes off. Is the motorized valve broke or is it something else.

sounds like your motorised valve is not making on the micro switch or the switch is faulty inside.

what make/model is the valve ?

Sounds like the heating motorised valve is shot and although opening it is not reaching far enough across to activate its own microswitch to bring boiler/pump on

Hi

Thanks for reply's any ideas on how to get the heating on tonight i am froze. The valve is a honeywell and it is silver that is all i can see on it. It has a switch with Man/open on it.

not much you can do unless you want to start altering wiring

How much wiring I am a sparky by trade so i dont mind wiring but what i undo i have to redo at some point.

find your wiring centre box
remove lid.
in connector block you'll should see a orange and a grey and a white wire.

just to check first
switch just heating on at programmer.
wall stat up.
have you power on the white, grey, orange ?

white = 0V
orange = 0V
Grey = 240v

white 0v shouldn't be.
lets double check.

programmer on heating.
wall stat up to say 30 for now.

still nothing.

double checked white is 240v and grey is 240v orange is 0v

thank god for that.

thats proved the microswitch is faulty, new actuator.

if you now get a offcut of wire. one end in the white connector and other end in the orange connector.

you should have boiler firing up.

then check that when you turn stat down the boiler should shut off.
just remove that cable when you fit new part of valve.

let us know if all ok.

All works now the heating is on.

will it be ok when the stat calls for hot water.

The wire does go dead when the wall stat goes off.

yes it will be ok with hw.
as the cyl stat will go live and just connects into the orange aswell.
