Having turned the central heating back on (potterton suprima 50) after the non existent summer, it only appears to work when the hot water is on and there is a buzzing sound coming from the motorised valve. The thermostat on the boiler pipe is set at 60 deg. and the water cylinder thermostat at 55 deg. , is this right or could this be a of part of the problem? Apologies for the limited information, I am at work at the mo.

Any guidance for a central heating novice much appreciated.

Sounds as if the motor may have become faulty or just possibly the valve has become jammed.

Look at the FAQ for some help but in your case it may not be covered as the usual case is for the motor to be failed from an o/c winding.

The valve does sometimes jam though.
