Hi All
Been doing some decorating over the weekend and this involved replacing a radiator, this was completed and it working now fine.

The problems I have are with two radiators (one is an old radiator - probably about 20 years or so) and one is a new one.

The old radiator has stopped working, I have taken off the trv and to me it looks like the pin is stuck in the IN position, I have tried tapping, wiggling and all sorts of other things (incl WD40) but cant shift it - is this the end of the line for the TRV? Sounds like it is so I will have to get another one, just want to see if there is anything else I can do.

The second one is a new radiator in a loft extension. There are two up there, one is fine, the second one just does not work, I have bled it and it has no air but just doesn't want to get hot. I doubt that it is the TRV because its rather new. This is the last radiator in the house (the furthest from anywhere) and I am wondering if there is a blockage - is it worth purchasing some of that cleaner stuff and putting that it when I change the TRV on the other radiator or does anyone have any idea why this one isn't working. I have not opened the TRV to see if the pin is stuck on this one but as I say it is a new one (2 years).

Hi don't assume the trv is ok at 2 years old I had 2 Pegler valves out of ten pack up within the 1st year of use!! with the valve head removed use the end of a pair of pliers or similar try pushing the valve plunger down, if it wont move and there is no return movement then its in the closed position, a simple way to check the flow is wrap a old towel around the valve feed pipe turn the CH on then slowly slacken the compression nut,if there's pressure before the valve then the valves at fault, when you decorated and removed the rad were you able to flush this through prior to refitting, if not you may have disturbed the sediment during the refill. Cheers Roy
