here is a question for you.

my central heating has broken down. a few corgi regsitered people i know have looked at it informally and donut have a clue. i suspect the probelm may be it is full of sludge- it is about 17 years old, never been drained down but the boiler was replaced about 5 years ago
how do i select a trustworthy contractor. i am worried about being ripped off....i don't have anyone to recommend a contractor despite what i said above and want to avoid a 'my mates mate is good' situation. :?:

Please be more specific with the symptoms of the problem.

"How do I select a trustworthy contractor": Just get 3 quotes.

if you were more specific about your location, then someone may help.

Try the CORGI website and put in your post code for someone local

Try your local council. I am on a register of approved contractors called home call, each of us has to be invited to join and then we are checked out and have to supply references that are all followed up and checked. We also have to state our callout fees etc up front.

You could also try the internet, I am also a member of nomorecowboys.com where at the end of each job I leave a form for the customer to fill in about the work I have just done. These results are available to view for people like yourselves who do not know any local tradesmen.

If you need to find a tradesperson to get your job done, please try our local search below, or if you are doing it yourself you can find suppliers local to you.

Select the supplier or trade you require, enter your location to begin your search.

Are you a trade or supplier? You can create your listing free at DIYnot Local
